The Estate
Our small old Vineyard sits on Dja Dja Wurrung Country amongst a 700 acre Regenerative farm on the outskirts of Kyneton in the Macedon Ranges. Along with our Vineyards, the farming consists of beef, bees, chicken, sheep, agroforestry, all following a strict Regenerative approach.
The Vines
The Riesling was planted in 1982 at 500m and has spent more than forty years adapting to this cold, exposed site. The vines are dry grown and naturally low yielding, with deep root systems that allow them to ride out the extremes of each season and produce a small amount of intensely flavoured fruit. Other than the annual prune, this vineyard has seen little else in the way of outside inputs, allowing the vines to find harmony in their environment. Moving more and more towards an active Regenerative approach, we have reduced machinery work by the use of a flock of sheep and created our own biological sprays from farm materials. This will help retain balance and sustainability in the site while remaining harmless to the wider environment.
The Wines
No compromises, no rules, no recipes. The grapes are picked when they show us they are ready, pressed for as long as it takes, aged until they find purity, bottled when they peak and released when they are perfect.
